Very interesting post, one that is quite relevant to this blockchain-based platform.
I've read various texts related to preserving the mind's content after death, through some unknown future technology. Usually, I found the claims a bit far-fetched, and even ludicrous at times.
However, the phrase you use – "digital immortality" – brings a new perspective to the issue. I doubt that we will ever be immortal, and I am skeptical about to what degree technology can replace life or even integrate with life.
As you imply, the digital information will of course outlive us, and that means that much of who / what we are can be preserved.
One things for certain, the future keeps becoming more interesting.
