I have been aupairing from the start of this year,
(I'm a local aupair, not international) and it has been a joyride - literally, in one of the school holidays I took them to Gold Reef City, which is a theme park in Johannesburg.
Being an aupair has it's ups and downs (mostly ups though). The only downs are when the children fight and when they lie (lie to get out of homework).
Kids these days get way to much homework, there are rarely time to play and be a kid..
I get to hold the puppy while its time for homework.
Something that i have learned form this experience is; you have to make them trust you, to ALWAYS be patient and to never choose sides.
I have grown to love these two kids and are obviously not going to love saying goodbye before moving to Cape Town this year.
Things that are awesome about aupairing in general is:
The hours - I work 3 hours a day, 4 days a week.
The money is great.
The kids respect and trust me.
