I finally convinced my husband to go to an antique store today. Getting him to go has been hard but it ended up being a nice outing. I had a specific reason I wanted to go....a butter dish. If there's one thing I greatly desire for my house, it's a butter dish. My husband has a quirk where he likes leaving butter out on the counter because it stays soft. If you leave the wrapper open (which he is prone to do) the cats will sneak some licks of butter. My husband always has a stick of butter on the counter and it drives me nuts having the cats trying to steal butter and knocking it off into the floor.
Our biggest antique store posts pictures of new things they get in stock on facebook. I saw that they had some nice butter dishes and thought that was a good excuse to go. If I'm going to get a butter dish I would like a cool one. One with bright colors that is pretty. They have plain white ones at Walmart but white is dull.
The antique store use to be a NAPA Auto Store and before that it was a garage with two stories. It is packed with antiques.
I enjoyed the cooking section with all the cast iron pans.
When I go to antique stores I always check out the books
This particular store didn't have many vintage books. I was disappointed this was all they had. We use to have an antique store with an entire room filled with vintage books. It shut down a long time ago and I really miss it. You could get really old books for a few dollars and they had the most wonderful old book smell.
They only had one butter dish left!
I didn't like this butter dish enough to pay $20 for it. It was a nice color but it wasn't what I was looking for. I guess my search will continue.
Some fast food West-Mex
Taco Johns is a place I've always been fond of purely for something called a Potato Ole. They are basically tater tots covered in spices. When I was in elementary school my mom would buy me some when I got A's on spelling tests. I've always enjoyed them. Recently, Taco Johns started serving them in a bowl with toppings so my husband and I decided to try some for a quick lunch. They were pretty good. I hadn't had them in a long time so it was a tasty meal.
Afterwards we came home and worked out in the yard. We've got a lot of projects going on and have been working hard t o get our yard in tip top shape.
butter one of the good food, but we in Indonesia very rarely eat butter, maybe because kebiasaa. eating rice and fish.
Thanks for the comment. That's very interesting. Where I live in the southern United States butter is an important ingredient in most foods. We use it in grits, biscuits, pancakes, shrimp, and lots of other dishes. We prefer potatoes over rice but we also eat rice with butter mixed in.
Nice photos! Antique stores are interesting, sometimes. I always look for photography equipment, old toasters, and keep an eye out for an ornate teacup. No explanations! Lol
Oh, i want them books :)
