Christmases we used to have - TIME MACHINE travel to the eighties

At one of my last classes this year (I'm a Croatian language teacher in Sports gymnasium), I agreed with my final grade to have a movie day. Hurray! I chose Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris, movie in which the main character, a writer Gil Pender, while having a holiday in Paris with his fiancée's family, mysteriously travels back to the 1920s every night at midnight. He meets his literature idols, such as Ernest Hemingway, Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein and has a nights full of alcohol, interesting conversations and sweating on the dance floor while contemplating about life and art.

That movie, which is much more then another cheesy romantic story, made me think just how COOL would it be to have a time machine...And to visit different era's.

Which era would you choose?

I wouldn't mind the 20's that character played by Owen Wilson chose... (https://blogs.ancestry.com/cm/14-reasons-you-really-belong-in-the-1920s/), although every decade that followed had it's benefits.

Today I'm taking you to my family Christmas gatherings back to the EIGHTIES... Last decade before capitalism (at least in my country, Croatia) entered the room... The decade of bad haircuts, good music and even better fun. I am really happy I had childhood unlike today's kids... We actually played with each others (not with fancy gadgets), riding bicycles, had scabbed knees, trade cards for albums, listening to digital audio tapes... And really had an amazing time!

Christmas presents weren't so sumptuous and glamorous as today's are, but families were more connected and Christmas lunches lasted for hours. Grown ups were talking, smoking (blessed the eighties..:D), and having wine while us kids were watching endless cartoons and playing with our new toys. I guess some things remain the same (despite the fact I'm sitting at the grownups table nowdays ;)).

I lost many photos during time...But here are the few left... And they really (still) warm my heart :)

Mom, dad and myself... Not sure what year it was...But my guess would be 1987.

A year or two after that...My parents and me hanging out with my auntie and cousins at granny's place.

Me and my cousin Hrvoje playing on grandpa's Commodore...1989., lucky guess.

What are your childhood holiday season memories like? Share some with me, please!

And before I forget... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
