Many people believe that the preppers movement is a group of neurotics with mental problems but it is not so, many of the things that can happen to the point of endangering our lives and our loved ones can be avoided or minimize their impact if We can prepare for events such as:
Earthquakes
()
Flood
Tsunamis
Pandemics
Financial chaos
Chemical warfare
Bacteriological war
Nuclear war
Among others.
It is a group that increases day by day, is a matter of personal responsibility and self-sufficiency
In our society we tend only to think positive but as one Hindu speaker said when I attended a conference when I was very young and whose name I do not remember, where it said "Gentlemen, there is no good or bad luck, there is only good or bad planning . We tend only to plan if everything goes well, but we never thought about what you would do if things did not go as we wanted and we waited. "
That is why at its root the movement preppers seeks the survival and preservation of our integrity, through basic and unconventional actions.
The scenarios we have today are not very optimistic, the danger of ISIS, relations increasingly tense with Russia, China and Korea. All this glimpses a high probability that any scenario for which we must be prepared.

Hey great meeting you! I am the author of a popular female survival guide as well as run an All Things Survival website. I became staff writer for the site in 2009, but was given it by the owner after fathering his 7th child and he had no more time! lol. So, yea, I have dealt with the stigma for quite a few years now!

I think the whole prepper community has gotten a bad rap. Sure, a lot of preppers tend to focus on the worst of the worst: an EMP, chemical/biological warfare or a collapse of the economy. But that's not all this community is about. Disasters do happen and they happen frequently. Case in point: I live in the Interior of British Columbia where over 100 wildfires are currently raging. My town was already evacuated once this summer and may be evacuated a second time. During the evacuation stores were closed and it was not possible to buy fresh food. Most people left, but some did not and they had to have had some food stored up to be able to make it through the evacuation period. I'm not a survivalist by any stretch of the imagination, but I did have enough food on hand and that made the difference.
Good afternoon, your point is valid is not a question of being pessimistic but of being prepared in case of disasters. Luckily you were prepared and that was what made the difference in the end. In essence you are a prepper
