Saturday again and by any reckoning that means it's beer o'clock!!
So what's on the menu this fine summers evening? Well, being an eclectic soul I have trotted round the globe this week. We have Japan, the USA and of course the UK! Don't worry Europe. Next week I shall ride my golden hopped chariot your way.
So first up, let's head West!!
What a lovely chap! From the Anchor brewery in the US which claims to be Amurca's first craft brewery... Is it? I shall let you chaps tell me! It's pleasant, goes down rather easily and had a nice bitterness with little aftertaste. I had hoped for a little more meat to it. But hey ho, pleasant enough.
Hmm, that's whet my whistle finely. What's next?
Doggie style, that conjures up all sorts of images but perhaps not ones that fit best in a glass.
This is a strange one alright. I am no stranger to pouring a beer but this one frothed up like a sailor in a brothel. Ridiculous!
I mean look at the head on that? What the fuck, am I in Ibiza already? Is this a foam party? Where are my lightsticks?
There is no getting round this one, it's just not that great. When someone says to me, you fancy some doggie style? I expect great things but this? It's just damp lager. Like a leopard is pissing in my mouth.
Swiftly moving on. Gahhk.
Ah, that's better. This one does have heart and soul just like it claims. It's a velvety beast with fruity hints underlying the hops. I have to drink two of these to remove the foul doggieness of the last one from my face.
It's no Salty Kiss aka last week but it is smashing. This is one I will be buying more of.
And finally we have... JAPAN!!!
I look at this one owlishly, or hang on, is it looking at me owlishly? There is an owl on the bottle that's for sure. I think I am a bit pished.
This is a white beer brewed by the Kiuchi brewery. It's an amazing white beer. Like someone has slapped me on the face with a citrusy glove and challenged me to a beer duel. I am enjoying it very much and the night is still young.
Who knows, a couple more of these and I might find myself in the park carousing with the rapscallions of the night!!

They are aren't they! I couldn't not code to buy that one when I saw it lol!!
A nice and varied selection of beers. I've never tried any of those; now I have an idea of which ones to look out for in the future (and which ones to avoid).
Just the one beer for me this evening:
Quite an odd one - a black IPA; it was strong and had a very bitter aftertaste - and didn't have the coffee notes that I was expecting. I wouldn't rush out to the shops to buy it again.
It has a fascinating name. I would have bought that too. I hate it when they promise something and fail to deliver!
One always is to expect a bunch of froth from Doggie Style, or so Ive heard ;)
Yes authority this kind would put a washing machine to shame!
I'd recommend giving Flying Dog another chance. Out of all the brewery tours Ive been on, theirs was my favorite. Cheers
I have had other ones by them which have been fine, it might have been the mad frothing which ruined it, I haven't written off the brewery that's for sure!

Oh that looks good. I am well familiar with that feeling my friend! I don't know how hard it is to get them. There are a few craft beer shops that have sprung up around Glasgow and I usually prowl about them at the weekend looking for new things! Most of them are imported so should be available all over the place!
It did feel like something was pissing in my mouth, leopard was the first that came to mind! hehe :O)

I have to confess to being drawn to the cuteness of the bottle! Thankfully it is a great beer too. I am on my second!
Unfortunately I avoid beautiful labels, it seems to me that the manufacturer spent a large part of the cost of product to create it, and saving money on the quality of the beer...I think I missed a lot of good beer because of this unreasonable habit :)
Its a good and reasonable thing to think. I think nowadays though the beers are way more expensive in part to cover that cost. I have had some crackers!

That's for sure... I would much rather drink wine than regular lager beer. But if the option of a nice craft beer/ale is on the table, it makes the decision trickier to make. There are so many of these craft beers to choose from these days. Literally thousands of them. That's cool, that's exciting.
I am quite the red wine man myself! I just like the odd beer now and then. These new jazzy ones make it a more interesting experience!
I look at it the same way I guess... Red wine is life! Or...not, but I really like it. OK, but some of the new jazzy beers are simply too jazzy: Tactical Nuclear Penguin (32%), Sink the Bismarck! (41%), The End of History (55%)

I have had the tactical nuclear penguin! I think it came in a little shot glass. It wasn't my cup of tea. Those ones are taking the biscuit. I like your thinking, red wine is life!!

I never thought I'd ... Is this real? Am I dreaming? When I said that I softly wished you would find a beer that's not to your liking, I never thought it would be for one that's named Doggie Style I'm so sorry you had to go through that, dude. I've had a leopard do the same to me, and it's not a pretty taste. Horrible art to boot. Looks like it was just horrible all around.
Wouldn't it be cool if Heart and Soul was from South Korea, and it's name was Heart and Seoul haha! And, with that owl one, I can't help but see that it has a huge afro...
