The last Saturday before Christmas. In the olden day's they used to burn big piles of wood and drink lots of beer to celebrate this auspicious day. Well, who am I to knock the olden ways!
So I got me some beers and a good lady hiding in bed with the door barred. Time to get stuck in
Fancy Dan can. No idea what that is on it, a hummingbird? A demonic entity ravening for the flesh of man?
No idea, it's a triple hopped beast from Stewart Brewing with a sturdy 6.4% lurking beneath it's waves. So what does the dread radical road deliver to us?
It wallops out a big velvety head which shows no signs of dissipating. Mmm, looks tasty. I have a swig. I can taste the triple hops right away. This is one hoppy mofo of a beer. A light citrus tang along with it. A good depth and aftertaste which stays with you. Maybe even some grassy passing notes. Top donk! 7.5/10.
Well, can we top it. Let's see.
Don't fear the Reaper! As someone once sang. This is another triple hopped beer. Only this time it is a red rye beer from the Black Sheep Brewery. A bit weaker than the last one at only 4.1% I have always been fond of a red rye beer. Here's goes!
It's a lovely ruby port-esque colour. Like the blood in American Gods, the TV show of course. The head froths up then trots away, the beer itself remains relatively gassy, thankfully!
It's got great flavourI like it a lot, the rye comes at you over all else, those hops helping out to pack a punch beyond its price tag,was almost going to give it a matching score but decide that it beat it by just a little so it gets an extra bit at 8/10 making it this weeks winner!! Hurrah for the reaper!

Carlsberg, Heineken, Guinness. Tiger (most famous one) over here..:)
Would search for this Unique beer, perhaps a hidden gems somewhere here... have fun and Merry Christmas..

Black Sheep brewery is not too far from where I live, they make another great Ruby ale called Riggwelter, check it out if you see it ;)

Oh man, that Radical Road design is a beaut! Definitely one of my faves from all you reviewed so far. Funny how we were talking about pelicans as of late ;)
Always bet on black, as they say. I never doubted the Reaper would take it. Let's hope it takes half a century before the Reaper takes us. I love how in the road to Christmas you kept reviewing Christmas-y beers, and then on the eve of it you chose not to. Ballsy move, Boomdawg! Way to subvert expectations! These beers may average below 8, but you're a 100/10 in my book!! Yes, for nitpickers, it still scores a 10 when divided. Take that for data!

I had an Abita Bourbon Maple Street Pecan last night and I thought of you when I was drinking it! I am not sure if you have had it, but it was quite tasty!

Personally, for whatever reason I have never acquired the taste for beer (the only one I like is Guinness) - and no one can ever understand how THAT is the one that I like.
I have however recently fallen in love with Scotch but more so Kentucky Bourbon. Some friends and I went on the Bourbon Trail in KY and it was a great experience, I highly recommend it! (but watch out because the tastings add up quick when the distilleries are so close together!)

I am surprised too that that is the one that you like! Goodness heck, its quite the aquired taste!
Which Wheel of Time book did you make it to? It's true, the middle/latter did start to get a bit out of hand. My problem was I got caught up and then would have to wait years for the next book to come out and I would forget what was happening. But, I will say the Brandon Sanderson books at the end are very good, the pace and action is more like the first 3 books.
Sorry man. I seen to have missed a bunch of replies from a few days ago!! I think, and it was a long time ago that I got to 8 or 9. They started getting incredibly long winded and it genuinely send that you could read the first three chapters and the last three and you wouldn't have missed anything.
I was tempted to read the end because I am a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson. He is amazing. So prolific as well. Now that you have recommended them, I will!!
No problem! If you're already a fan of BS then you definitely need to read his WoT books. have you read Mistborn Trilogy? that is the first thing I read of his. I have the first Way of Kings book on my bookshelf but I have yet to read it; was purposely waiting since I saw he said he wants it to be a 10 book series or something, I don't want to have the same thing happen to me that happened to WoT, forgetting things from book to book.
I understand that completely! The first way of kings was amazing. Absolutely amazing. The second was almost as good!! You are in for a treat. Yes, I have read the midterm series although preferred the original trilogy to the later ones.
