Too Foreign To Belong Anywhere

in #life7 years ago (edited)

In the United States I am called foreign and that I do not belong, however, when I visit my home country they call me American and say that I could never adjust back to my roots.

This is something that I have been thinking about lately and it is becoming difficult for me to explain. With talks about people screaming, "go back to your country", and all the violence it makes you think if you belong anywhere at all. I do not seem to be welcomed in either countries and no matter how long I have been in one or the other I guess it won't make an impact.

Just some ideas I have been wrestling with. Let me know how everyone else feels would love to talk further and see if anyone else might be feeling the same way.

By just accepting and being yourself you're at home wherever you are.Labels doesn't matter.Peoples opinions neither, unless they contribute.Constructive criticisim only should be accepted as helpful for analysis and drawing conlusions. There are billions of ppl and everyone have it's own opinion.Unless that contributes, who cares?

I see what you are saying and that also helps. You are your own being and you build off what goes on around you. Just stay true to yourself :)

I feel mostly the same here. I am expat from my home country living in Germany.
Here in Germany I am being looked at as an outsider, and in my home country I am called " the german".

But actually, I consider myself a little bit of both, or just like you, without any definite roots.

Vote if you feel the same too.

Completely agree, were just a blend I guess you can say since we both were exposed to two different cultures.

Happens to me as well. In my village in Northern Italy I'm the Sardinian guy, when I go to Sardinia or the south of Italy I'm the guy from Milan.

You can never win. What's important is the way you view yourself :)

Very true!
