U.S. Aircraft Carrier suffers failure..FORCED BACK TO PORT..The USS Gerald Ford class aircraft carriers may be doomed.

in #life7 years ago

America's most expensive ship, the new aircraft carrier "Gerald R. Ford" has been forced back to port at a time when the navy was hoping to get Congressional approval for a major expansion of the program that pays for this new class of carrier. A major failing in a bearing that transfers power from one of the vessels four main engines to the propeller drive shaft is the apparent culprit.

"The Gerald R. Ford, the U.S. Navy’s costliest warship, suffered a new failure at sea that forced it back to port and raised fresh questions about the new class of aircraft carriers.

The previously undisclosed problem with a propulsion system bearing, which occurred in January but has yet to be remedied, comes as the Navy is poised to request approval from a supportive Congress to expedite a contract for a fourth carrier in what was to have been a three-ship class. "

General Electric (GE) is ultimately at fault in this situation. One of the most corrupt (IMHO) corporations on the planet apparently has limited liability for this failure, however. It will be interesting to see if the U.S. taxpayers are left, again, holding the bag.

Now, if we were actually a republic and not this enormous neoconservative globalist empire, these huge expenditures on military hardware would not be nearly as necessary now, would they? Ahem....

so nice post.

Hey, thanks! Keep steeming....

so your main point is that GE sucks? I think you need to do a post on why they are so corrupt. You know, so the people will know why...or okay, so I will know why. you don't think we should have big ships?

No. We should have a navy the size of what a republic needs to defend it's borders. I don't care what size the ships are. Instead, we are being forced by traitors to NOT DEFEND OUR BORDERS but, instead, to project THEIR corrupt power all over the world in a way which would have our founders (who didn't even approve of a standing army) rolling in their graves.

I'll think about a GE article here, eventually, Jon.

ok thanks for the explanation, I think it would shock people to find out that our Founders
didn't want a standing army, how were we supposed to defend the country then?
I agree we don't even defend our borders which has become total insanity.
Can't wait for the GE article because you know, people think of GE as their favorite
air conditioner or stove, not an evil monster. We(oh sorry..THEY) need educated.

Start with looking at the graft and government largess involved in the "wind power" rip-off, which they're largely behind....

Interesting post. As for possible fallout for GE, we all know they can breathe easy, and they do too. Likely, they'll make even more working on the problem they were unable to prevent the first time. Everybody, main stream media through sponsorhip and ownership, defence contractors, consultants of an endless number of kinds, politicians towing the line, are paid not to ask the question of what armed capabilities the country needs, they are paid not to understand that sometimes less can in fact give more, for society as a whole. The corporate cash brain freeze is hard to thaw.

Great reply. Thanks!! I'd upvote it, if I had any steem!

What I can do though, is follow you, and I have.

Keep on Steeming out the truth, man! (or woman...)

speaking of military expenditures...

Oh geesh...35% of the entire world's expenditures!! No wonder everyone hates us now...(after loving us up until about the 60s, when we were still mostly beneficent in our foreign actions )...
