Glass Kirigami - Seeking Inspiration from Sukkot

Is it possible to use paper techniques in glass?

My glass artworks, like this Glass Kirigami, are proof that YES, it’s completely possible,
and the results are wonderful and outstanding! 💕

The technique I used in this piece is Kirigami,
which is an ancient art that involves taking thin, flat paper sheets,
and turning them into 3-dimensional objects through careful folding and cutting.

The Kirigami technique is popular when it comes to creating
holiday paper ornaments and paper lampshades, and in Israel,
we use it to craft decorations for a holiday we call “Sukkot”.

It inspired me ever since I was a child, and today I use it
to create intricate yet light glass figures.

This glass artwork is created flat first with slots and holes in the right places.
Afterwards, I placed it in a glass kiln and let it open to become
a structure like you see in the picture.

What do you think of this piece? 😊
