Minimalism is often thought about something as a craze or a trend. When one imagines about minimalism, usually one expects something that is plain, boring, or black and white. You see, minimalism is not only about clothes, art, architecture or the control of stuff; it is not something that you should consider doing short term either. Sure, you can have a minimal picture or a minimal clothing here and there, but to truly appreciate its essence, you should recognize it as a lifestyle.
It is really about the actual important things in life. You know, the one that makes you feel happy. You focus on those, and try to let go of the other elements that is less important to you.
Stuff is the easiest to strike when it comes to minimalism. Again, keep the ones that makes you happy and remove the ones that do not. Your clothes for example; keep the ones that's your favorite, the ones that is comfortable and the ones that gives value to you. The ones that don't, you can do a lot to those! Donate them, give them to your friends or sell them. Trust me, boy or girl, no one will notice that you only have a few clothing.
When you're done with your stuff, minimalism tends to escalate. You now try to look at your relationship, then notice that some people makes you happy and loved and some people makes you stressful or angry. Best thing to do is the same; keep the people that gives value to you, and let go of the people that don't. Same also for your hobbies, work and groups you are participating in. Do only the activities you love. Why do something you don't, right?
It is not about owning less, doing nothing and talking to a few people only; it is about giving and contributing more to the ones that matter to you.
