A Piece of Advice to the Ladies
By Franklin Onwubiko
The quest to become popular and celebrated has caused more harm than good to the youths of today most culpable, the feminine gender.
Moral decadence to some extent has characterized the stairways and pathways to achieving "celebrity status".
Hence, when this status is attained through the wrong path, turning a new leaf becomes herculean. It's a common norm to tell lies in a bid to furnish and sustain the already told lies. That's why after attaining such celebrity status, scandals becomes part of life.
The problem with our society is not unconnected to the fact that we copy a lot. We always want to try out things both good and bad. You adore so called foreign models, actresses, singers and you want to replicate their lifestyle.
Again, the girls are culpable. You take shots of you striking sexy pose in your room, you shoot video of yourself dancing nude, you take shots as you flaunt your cleavages at will, in a bid to copy foreign models who have no single shame in their wardrobes. A guy who claims to be in love requests for your unclad as a proof of your love, you stupidly snap and send to him to please him and to profess your so called undying love to him. That's balderdash!
After taking shots probably with your "best friends" or your boyfriends and possibly viewing them over and over again, adoring your "awesome" curves and endowments, common sense didn't tell you that you should quickly erase the pictures before it gets to a third party as you already TRUST the second party. My dear, any picture that is in your phone is already in the public domain. Has it ever crossed your mind that you could fall a victim of circumstance and lose the phone? Has it ever occurred to you that your phone can get bad at any time and of course take an emergency trip to the Phone shop? Need not tell you what can happen there. Or you are so sure that your so called boyfriend or best friend can't back stab you the next minute?
My dear, even if you don't have sense, come let me lend you sense. I've handled phones owned by female friends and of course seen things that can tarnish an image. Annoyingly, the seemingly "cool and homely " girls are the main culprits.
Anything you want to keep as secret shouldn't leave your lips talk more of finding its way in your mobile device. Once it does, it is no longer secret. If Judas Iscariot can betray Jesus Christ, who is your bestie that can't?
Five minutes of fun can ruin one's life forever. The question begging the answer is, "Can you live with the stigma?" No matter how unpopular you can be, there's someone out there looking up to you. You may think it's just you.
A word is enough for the wise. Remember, the walls have ears and eyes equally. When "Kasala" bursts, nobody would want to hear "It's the devil; I was drugged or drunk; it's blackmail.
