After fighting with my ISP over recurring issues of dropped signal (for which I received 3 weeks credit), I called several other ISPs. Sadly, NONE of them claim to offer internet in my area! What is funny is that if I go to my current ISP's website and type in my address, even THEY tell me they don't service my area!
What's that about???
The other ISPs which I am certain offer internet in my area use the same crappy, outdated tower I'm already on - I've checked. I would just be paying for an installation, and probably a higher monthly rate, for the same crappy, outdated connection.
Several years ago, fiber optics was laid along the two streets which are at each end of my street (going to the high-end neighborhoods at the end of those streets). When I asked if it were to be added to my street, the answer was something like this, "We have plans to add it in about six months or so." I've been told this for several years, now. I live on a 3 mile long street which has 2 owners on one side of the street and only 8 driveways on the other. I understand this may not be a 'profitable' street to target.
I would like to hear from those of you who have satellite internet? I would like to look into it. I know, in the past, the lag time was awful, and if any weather is in the area, internet is virtually null. Is this still the truth? I would appreciate any insight.
Thanks!!!
