- Rejection - we’re going to get rejected from that dream job we applied for. The sexy girl/guy we finally mustered up the courage to ask out is going to say no. It happens. Got to move forward.
- Divorce - if we decide to take on this mission, there’s a 50% chance it’ll end poorly. Perhaps we’re better off flipping a coin the night before our wedding and leaving it up to fate? Yeah, probably not.
- Death - you’re going to die. As am I. No avoiding that one. All we’ve got is from now until then to make an impact and some memories. Make your dash meaningful. Live your dash.
- Suffering - life is suffering. We can’t experience this life without hardship. Whether it be anxiety, depression, loss, fear, or anything else that is uncomfortable or undesirable, we’re bound to experience some or all of it.
- Fairness - you’ve probably figured this one out by now, but life isn’t fair. Men are privileged over women. Whites over blacks and other minorities. Attractive people tend to fare better than the unattractive. Tall individuals are more likely to be hired and promoted.
- Evil - unfortunately evil exists. Not only does it exist, but it seems to be thriving. Perhaps that’s because the media portrays this narrative? Or perhaps it’s because we live in a world addicted to nicotine, alcohol, drugs, pills, technology & etc. rather than human connection, love & what is good…
- Cheating - husbands cheat on wives. Wives cheat on husbands. Students cheat on exams. Businessmen cheat to get ahead. Pro athletes cheat to keep their careers alive. Cheating is tempting but playing the hand we were dealt is what’s honorable.
- Lying - we can’t trust everyone we talk to. We can’t believe everything we hear. People have ulterior motives. People want to make money off us. People want us to believe what they believe. Therefore, we need to practice discernment regularly to learn what is and what is not truth.
- Permanence - little to nothing is permanent in this life. Your spouse is not. Your job is not. Your mental health is not. Your financial security is not. Your life is not. Appreciate what you have before it’s gone for good!
