Summervibes and lovely food in Copenhagen

in #life7 years ago (edited)

"Kødbyens Mad & Marked" in Copenhagen (Literally "the meat-town food & market") is one of my favorite things to do in Copenhagen during the summer. It is a Mecca for young and old people in Copenhagen with good restaurants and a pulsating nightlife side by side with the slaughterhouses.

The meat-town is located in the district Vesterbro in Copenhagen. Formerly the area housed slaughterhouses for cattle and pigs, cooling houses and a cattlemarket with fresh meat. Today the area has remained a locus for companies and activities relating to the meat and food industry, these original functions take up much less space. Now the area has been changing into a new creative cluster with galleries, restaurants, nightlife and small creative businesses.

Every weekend during the summertime a market appears in the middle of the area. The market consists of booths selling cheap food from all the world's cultures (Chinese, mexican, english fish'n'chips and so on), homemade juices, drinks and everything a man's heart could desire. On a sunny day, you can, like a lot of other people do, enjoy the delicious food and listen to music while relaxing in the sun. Last time I went there live jazz music played and people started dancing around - pretty cool!

Next sunday there is a theme called "Bær with me" (berry with me), you can find some booths with local fresh danish berries in addition to the normal foodstands. Drop by if you're in Copenhagen, you will not regret it!

This is a picture of me enjoying a homemade juice at the market a year ago while spending time with a good friend.

Seems like I will have to make Copenhagen one of my next destinations :)
It looks great!

I have to agree, it's such a great vibe there!
I was also there three weeks ago during the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, it's my second year going. We found some awesome Asian food at the meat-market. I just wrote an article about it.
