Procrastination is an action we do most time and most times put us at risk of failing in whatever we are procrastinating.
Procrastination, is when we delay or postpone something we are meant to do or want to do.
Of course people come up with all sorts of creative reasons why they postpone or delay things, we believe that just isn’t the right time, or we are Too busy. Too stressed. Too risky. Too uncertain. Too inexperienced. Too old. Too young. Too disruptive. Occasionally those reasons are valid, but it can really be risky.
As a student, i have at one time get the gain of me procrastinating on something i was meant to do and it almost put me into trouble.
As student we often procrastinate about reading, research, assignment, project and other engagement
DANGERS OF PROCRASTINATION
IT CAN CAUSE FAILURE..... Yes failure, lets take for instance you are to submit a project but you have been procrastinating it only for you to know its like days to the deadline. Then you start rushing things, have sleepless night and other problems. Usually this project do not always come out great because you did not have enough time to prepare well for this project.
STRESS.....This can be as a result of you not doing something at a particular time but after. You can imagine the stress you go through when you have already wasted time on something, then when you know its almost the due date you start having sleepless night, worries and so on which will eventually lead to stress.
IT CAN DAMAGE RELATIONSHIPS....... This happens mostly among working class, especially team work . If two members of a team procrastinate about doing their part in a team work, then we can forecast failure in that project or team work which will lead to a damage relationship in that team.
CAREER SETBACK .............Chronic procrastination keeps individuals from realising their full professional potential and delaying career progress. You will just end up having setback at work and not having progress in terms of promotion at work.
WAYS TO OVERCOME PROCRASTINATION
GET RID OF DISTRACTIONS ..............What do you notice have been distracting you, i think i can guess YOUR PHONE. For me i count my phone as a distraction especially when you can not take your minds off instagram. You can simply put your phone on silence when you want to start anything you want to do.
DETERMINATION.......... when you determine to do something you have to remain alert about it till you finish because you have determined your mind to get it done at that time.
SET YOURSELF A SHORT DEADLINE ........... When you give yourself a short deadline it will make your work faster and go smoothly.
HAVE MORE CONFIDENCE AND SELF BELIEF ............... When you believe in yourself and have more confidence in yourself the strength will keep you going. Always belief you can do it, do not allow worries, do not allow stress.
Procrastination can be a disease so do away with it.
