Ever wonder what it would be like to think like a child again? Give me two minutes.

I've heard that bears only hibernate because the snow makes them feel sad.
I get that; it can be a lot easier to hide away and wait for things to change.
But I wish it didn't have to be that way for them. If only someone would take the time to show them all the good things about snow. Maybe then they could stay out all year.
I've also heard it said that people only drink wine because there are too many grapes in the world.
And that squirrels don't actually eat acorns, but use them to fill the hollow parts of trees so that they don't fall down.
That seems like awfully hard work, but I'm sure glad someone is doing it.
I've heard that lightning bugs only travel when they sleep, and that they wake up every few seconds to make sure they're still going the right direction.
If I were them I'd just wait 'till morning. But what do I know? I don't even travel.
I've been told that the pine cones lying on the ground are the ones that have a fear of heights. Hopefully, one day, I'll get to see one climbing down. Or maybe they jump; that would probably be quicker.
I've also heard about the turtles; all the little ones that carry our boat across the lake. My father says not to look at them because they might get nervous and swim away, leaving us to carry the boat across ourselves.
I'm not all that strong, so I just imagine the little swimmers.
My father always tells me the truth, despite my age. He says I deserve to know how the world works. I tend to agree with him.
He'll say things like, “you see, son...” and, “I always knew you'd ask about this.”
I love asking him questions. Partly because I'm curious, but also because I can tell he loves answering them.
