Throwback to my teenage tv.

in #life2 days ago

I was listening to the radio today and they had a segment on random TV shows of the past. The one that they were talking about today was Sabrina the teenage witch which was an after school staple when I was growing up.

It was funny when they went back over it as this was a show that i haven't seen in a long long time but some of the scenes they described came to mind as soon as they described them.

It was a huge show back in the day and there was a long list of cameos form big names and soon to be big names that back it up.

  • Usher
  • NSYNC
  • Jerry Springer
  • Turk from scrubs
  • Avril Lavigne
  • Backstreet Boys
  • Bryan Cranston form breaking bad.
  • Britney Spears among others.

A who's who of the 90's. It was a silly program with weird storylines but at the time was one of the top shows out there. I watched it all the way through and so did all of my friends. If i saw it on Netflix I might even watch it again now.

It got me thinking back to the other shows that i was watching back at the time and what would be worth watching again and what's better of left in the 90's.

My most watched shows.

  • Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

  • The Simpsons.

  • Saved by the bell.

  • The fresh prince.

  • Hang Time.

  • One Tree Hill.

It was a great era for the teenage dramas. We didn't have much on the Irish side so it was all American TV for us growing up through our teens.

I have to say that Buffy was my top show of the time. I mean who wouldn't like Sarah Michelle Geller in tight clothes fighting evil vampires. There is a reason that it was such a popular show.

Then there were a few like Keenan and Kel that are better left in the past. We saw a lot of misses over the years. Nickelodeon was responsible for a lot of them but we also had a a network here called trouble that showed most of the better shows. From 5pm to 9pm there was a great list of shows with most of my top watches in the listings.

It was a different world back then to now with Netflix and dodgy boxes with everything on tap whenever you want it. Back then you had to take what you got and be happy with it or else walk away for a while until you had something worth watching.

Funny how it all changes over time.

I don't know any of the shows you mention. I was in my 20s by 1990. We only had RTE when I was a kid so we grew up on Bewitched and Wanderly Wagon.
