If you have been following me for a while, you probably know that I every now and then I like to go through my personal belonging and get rid off anything I don’t need or use anymore. I usually do this before summer and before winter but there are no rules really. Since I moved out couple months ago, this is the first time I have my belongings at two different places – my current apartment and back at my family home so I won’t be able to gather everything I own at one place and go through it as I usually would.
This time I will have to go through my apartment and see what I can let go of. I don’t think there will be a lot of stuff as I was intentional with the things I’m brining with me. I guess the main area will be my clothes as there might be a few pieces I don’t need anymore. The rest of my clothes, that is not suitable for winter, I left at home together with some other things and to be honest while moving out, I made quite a mess and have been procrastinating dealing with it every time I visit home.
Current state of my hanging clothes in the apartment, notice a couple miss-matched hangers, lol (yes, I am that type of person who is annoyed by things like this)
Next area I was to tackle is my digital space – laptop, phone and social media. I am pretty good at decluttering my phone so there might be just some photos and a couple of apps I could delete. My laptop is organized in folders by year and within each year I have monthly folders. I should probably go through photos I took this year, especially garden related ones as they tend to get repetitive while I’m trying to get the best shot of the same thing from different angles and end up having pretty much multiple of the same photo. For me social media declutter means to delete anything I posted that I don’t thing it’s relatable anymore (I don’t post much so this is easy for me to go through) and unfollow/delete anyone I am no longer in touch with or feel like there’s no point of keeping on my following/friends list.
Last but not least, we have an area I don’t even know how to name so let’s just say it’s going to be ‘emotional/spiritual declutter’. Unfortunately, we cannot give away or throw away our feelings as we can physical things so this ‘declutter’ is more like a work in progress. The idea behind this one is to reflect on the current year and see what made me happy, sad, angry or stressed out and my reactions/behaviors for each. Good thing is I have my journal where I was writing during my good and bad moments and experiences which will make this reflection a lot easier. I might also do some kind of journaling challenge for myself for the month of December and try to write down anything that is on my mind or maybe has been building up in me. That way I can release it and hopefully enter 2022. With some personal insights and more growth.
With all the commitments and other things I have going on in December, I have decided to take this slowly and dedicate an entire month to do this declutter step by step. I would usually get so into it and tackle everything at once but this time I don’t want to rush and cause myself unnecessary stress.
Yes my friend can understand, when new month, new year, birthday, some festival etc comes we can take it as hope as from here may our things change as we looking for good. It's difficult to shift place as always Messy that what to take and what not so it's difficult but we must have to do it as no other choice. Let hope this December and new Year bring lot of happiness in your life.❤️
