Yes, that was in my mind. I've repeatedly tested trying to break them by hand (no go) and cut them off branches (no go unless I want to be a literal bloody hand thorn cushion), so it's the whole branch and mace it is!
They are horrible to deal with, itchy also. I'm thinking thorns might be wicked protection if one could sprout them at will.
Sprouting them at will would be a fine protection, no one could lay a hand on you and the very notion of a super thorny fist crashing into a face, yeek!
Apart from that, I say a big no to the thorns!
Ouch! What a visual, a thorny fist, lol. I'm always careful those barberry thorns don't end up in my line of sight impaling an eyeball in a fall or some other stupid thing.
So pair that with a giant bullfrog. Imagine the possibilities....
