None of this is relevant to a child in South Sudan or as part of a group of fleeing Rohingya. Nor the person slowly dying from incurable disease who also doesn't know where their next meal or medication will come from.
All posts on Steemit that is upvoted or successful, assumes a level of privilege as given. A base from where life starts. Anything below that is unthinkable to anyone who hasn't lived it.
Steemit is a microcosm of the world. The people who were lucky enough to have been born in an advanced country, where education is the rule and not the exception, where a 9 hour job brings in enough to afford rent on an apartment, a car, food, utilities and sending your kids to school in an Uber, well, they just do better and then do even better by making vidoes on how you can be more like them.
Meanwhile, the other 90% live in kampongs and mud huts. They will never get up the slippery white sides of the towering luxury yacht that is your western life.
This site is pretty elitist. It is not changing the world, but perpetuating and strengthening the already insane disparity between the few that have and the masses with nothing.
Blockchain will just end up another tool in the hands of the already haves.
