Apollo and Nova have both had their birthdays, too. Apollo was August 28th and Nova was September 7th. My husband and I have both reached another year in age as well.
Apollo was the sick cat. We almost lost him, but he pulled through. There were a few permanent marks left. Such as damage to his natural gut flora, and he can't jump very well anymore, so now he climbs everywhere instead. He still loves the bitter cold, but he's now much more vulnerable to hypothermia so we have to be careful with his body temperature.
I did come back after that, but not for too long.
If by some miracle we manage to get the house, we're thinking of getting chickens. They're legal in our little city and becoming surprisingly common here.
I also have a list of cats to adopt from the local no kill shelter, and we want to get at least one dog.
