RE: What is it like to earn over $200,000 a year?

in #life7 years ago

It doesn't really matter how much you earn, it is more about how much do you have left over once you have paid your basic living costs, what you can do with that leftover cash, and how much time you have to enjoy it, indeed how much you actually enjoy it.

There are many places in the world where $200,000 after taxes is barely enough to pay for living in a modest house and living expenses for a couple. Good luck if you have kids, college debt, want to save for retirement and have any medical bills. For sure you won't be starving but unless you frugal you won't be living in luxury driving a fancy car, eating out every night and traveling the world first class (or even business class).

And of course, there are places where that kind of money is going to pay for a big house, a couple of fancy cars, eating out, leave you lots over to save for retirement, vacations, discretionary spending, and fun.
