The greek island of Zakhyntos is truly astonishing, full of breathtaking attractions. It is one out of few islands off the West coast of Greece. It only takes about an hour to drive from the southern tip to the northern tip, and from east to west no more than 30 minutes.
The locals are incredibly good at making the tourists feel welcome, and if you enjoy easy-going extroverted locals, you are in the right place!
Below, I will be arguing visually, photographically, picturally, for the position that travelling to Zakhyntos is mandatory for all people.
Enjoy!
Swim with turtles in these shallow, crystal clear waters outside of the party town of Laganas
Get married surrounded by the sound of soothing summer house music at this secluded strand bar
Rent a motorboat for a day
And see some pretty awesome caves
You may also go to this natural spa beach with high levels of sulfur and chalk in the water (yes, it also smells)
However, if you are scared of depths, these waters may be slightly too clear for you
Now how on earth do you access this beach under here? Well, you don't, unless you set aside half a day on a boat. Until then, you may have to look at it from far above. From there, maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to spot a shipwreck.
The shipwreck has vacated the beach ever since a stormy October night dismissed it from the seas in 1980.
It is a historical fact that the color turquoise was first discovered in the waters of Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach). Nowhere else does turquoise work as a camouflage color.
If you are looking for really, really sharp rocks, you may find that on the northern tip of the island
The selfie conditions are great on Zakhyntos, and the tourist selfie stick ownership rate is close to 100 %
All in all, the island is so great that you will most certainly have to give your friends and family back home a call and tell them how great it is. No problem, Zakhyntos has its phones ready!
In this Steemit post, I have argued why Zakhyntos is an obligatory travel destination. I truly believe this to be the case. Please consider looking at good deals on flights and hotels and rental cars. Thank me later.
What a beautiful place. I was on Rhodes near there and some of it looks similar. I love seeing the beautiful water. Upvoted and followed :)
Thanks! Never been to Rhodos, actually, but Corfu and Crete. Zakhyntos beats those islands, though :)
Nice place to travel no matter where. I remember the sharp rocks at one beach though :)
