Life's lottery. You may be wondering how did the above picture relate to celebrating a new month.

I woke up today with mixed feelings. Feeling shitty because I don't have cash to buy steem power.

When I started browsing a local forum here, I came across this boy's story. He was found hawking mango at 10pm.

Pity, sadness, gratefulness overshadowed me. First I pity any so called parent that would give birth to a child for whatever reason and live him in this condition. If there ever is a God, then for sure those set of parents won't go Scot free.

Secondly sadness for this boy. He didn't get to choose where to emerge into this world. And that's where life fucks us all. He will live the rest of his life with the consequences of what wasn't his choice in the first place.

Lastly, happiness because for all the things I feel unfortunate about, someone out there is having it worse. I know I shouldn't be happy for that but I have to be grateful for the little I have.

The total content on that plate won't be more than #300 Naira ($1). And from the expression on his face, it'll be likely a case of him losing some of the money he made from sales and fear the persecution he'll face when home.

That’s a treasure of truth!

Irrespective of how life turns people, there is always a room to be grateful knowing that all hope is not lost, death doesn’t stop hope, especially when it’s a lively hope.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

Romans 8:35-37
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Just hold on beloved.
