That's one african proverb I totally didn't understand while growing up. I believe somethings are free. I equally believe when firms or friends offer a free service, its actually free.
Not until now when my thought got disrupted and my mind enlightened to discover that companies sell 3 basic things which includes their ;
Brand Name
Brand Image (logo)
Product/Service
Thus whenever they claim to offer a FREE service, they either plan to market two of the services and let one be FREE or most of the times offer a side service for FREE and market their 3 basic original services. Thus its actually very expensive, they end up selling two or the three services when they could have only sold one to an average customer that didn't take part in the FREE service.
Even when foundations give alms or offer any FREE service to the public, they end up selling their other profitable services to the public.

So when you buy into a FREE service, you don't only PAY for the FREE service, you actually PAY higher than every other person who never used the FREE service would have paid.
First of all, you become their organic and unpaid marketer, telling others the kind gestures of those firms and their reliability.
In fact, FREE things are more expensive than any other thing.
If I recharge 100naira MTN (telecom company) recharge without bonus, I'll be charged more when I have FREE bonus than when I don't.

Behind every FREE service is some hidden charges.
The word FREE draws attraction and thus seduces many to buy into the service without proper examination of the terms and conditions.
Whenever you're offered a FREE service, always ask "WHAT DOES THE FREE SERVICE OFFERER STANDS TO GAIN"
