RE: Why I Dropped Out Of College, And DON'T Regret It!

in #life8 years ago

Colleges make $ every time an employer calls to verify your education. You become a walking money maker for your school. My English teacher was fuckn his students for grades & drank like a fish. Ask for something to be explained? Make an appointment when they're never there during office hours. College is really about making business contacts before graduation. In addition, I can't tell you how many times I said to myself, "I could do that job easily without a college degree. Since when does any cell phone customer service job require a college degree?" It wasn't until I went in for the group interview that I noticed all the pigment challenged individuals: experience, degree aside were summarily dismissed." So a "college degree" just offers some respect at work for an additional $0.05/hr. Worth it? No because the amount of overtime I've been "required" to work to keep my job could have more than easily made up the difference there. So then what? It means maybe you don't have to log in to the second on that time clock, it means you might get an office, maybe they don't harass you so much for a note from your Dr when you called off sick after being sent home the day before. It means management is less likely to lie to your face when they just need to cut people. In other words you'll be treated more like a human instead of a thing. Bottom line, IF an employer can't respect me for the work I perform, I can find a new job on my own. If someone is going to behave like that, I'd rather know up front. Then I can leave when I'm ready.
