The "soil" here in the Ozarks is mostly rock and clay, which is not very absorbent.
When it rains, plenty of rushing water can be found in various places, and the ditch between my property and the gravel road is one of them. If left unchecked this gully could become immense, and also pose a threat to my fenceline.
Thankfully, some nearby neighbors have a pile of junk concrete, rock , and broken bricks that they'll have to be moving eventually anyway. While a lot of it isn''t exactly something that I'd put "on display," it'll work just fine to catch debris and sediment and slowly help fill in a little of this ravine.

Hey is it true that price per acre is rising down there in the ozarks? My husband knows I’d love to move but he says he’s not paying a high price for rock and sand.
