We're not sure what's happening... but something is!
We just happened to notice this earlier, and we are hoping for the best! It looks like the Guinea Fowl that @vcelier and @matthewtiii helped us buy last year may be producing a new generation!
IS IT TIME?
Normally, this Guinea fowl hen looks like this, and is covering her clutch of eggs. Recently we were able to sneak a peek underneath her, and we saw something amazing!
One of the eggs has begun to crack! This could either be a good sign or a bad sign, but we are hoping for the best. We checked the egg by picking it up, and we could feel something moving inside of it!
We're not sure if this means that our first "homemade" keet will be hatching today, but we are optimistic! She's got twenty little eggs total, so we might end up with a nice new flock! Trust me, we'll keep you posted on this one! Hopefully there will be good news soon!
here's the proof:As always, I'm @papa-pepper and
proof-of-a-bad-proof....
Until next time…

Cool!...:)...
Looks like the beginning of unzipping. Have you candled eggs yet? Your kids will love it! You hold a bright flashlight to the large end and you can see all the veins, position of the air sack and whether or not the chick/keet has penetrated the air sack. Carefully and gentlely this can be done at any time, once in a while, you get really lucky and see a chick foot or clear outline of them moving!
Crossing my fingers for your keets!
WE have before, but I think that these are too thick...
Cool, I haven't tried with keets, maybe you can't. I'm not sure.
Yeah, super tough shells on the guinea eggs.
Hopefully the egg will hatch perfectly, you have to take care of it well, so it will grow faster.
WE hope so!
I also really hope that way.
Perspective is cool. Best wishes... naturally.
Thanks man!
aLMOST COMING THE CHICKS!! Take care of it!
Great post, great lesson and still going on. People saying there is a long to gain online, i have come to realize that on steemit and most other platform but here, i am always information full. i like this piece. thanks
creció la familia amigo es agradable noticia, felicidades
This is cool, by sunset tomorrow, u could have more new flock. I guess she will be hatching today or tomorrow.
Nice one @papa-pepper
Amazing development. Congratulations. 20 eggs quite too many for one hen to lay.
@eurogee of @euronation and @steemstem communities
Keep us updated !
As in, please spend the rest of the day staring at the eggs with a camera ready, so you can get footage for us XP
It's a go!
What will you be doing with them? Eggs, meat or selling?
Yes, those are the untended purposes, plus pest control and an alarm system.
Looks like a good sign to me good luck to a successful Hatching :)
I think so! These eggs are really tough though and the keet inside is so small... we'll see how it works out.
They've started! I think we've got four so far!!!
Oooooh how exciting!!! I love hatching time :D
Oh yeah!
Woohoo new life on the homestead is always a good day out.
I hope they all hatch and are happy and healthy and running around your garden eating ticks like crazy.
4/20 so far, we'll see!
This is pretty egg-citing, @papa-pepper! I hope you have 21 new little keets! Waiting for the updates and photos!
