RE: ICC Issues Arrest Warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, and Deif for War Crimes

in #life5 months ago

hmmm, considering the historical connection between the united nations and israel to begin with it is questionable as to how this is to be enforced. it always seemed to exist for those other members ;)

i feel we are witnessing systemic revamping of the geopolitical landscape.

look what wiki says:

"Finally, the General Assembly convened a conference in Rome in June 1998, with the aim of finalizing the treaty to serve as the Court's statute. On 17 July 1998, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court was adopted by a vote of 120 to seven, with 21 countries abstaining. The seven countries that voted against the treaty were China, Iraq, Israel, Libya, Qatar, the U.S., and Yemen.[23]

Israel's opposition to the treaty stemmed from the inclusion in the list of war crimes "the action of transferring population into occupied territory"."

lol

Sort:

Several countries have said they will act on the warrant should Netanyahu show up inside their borders. Italy, Canada, and the UK have at least said they would. It's unlikely they'll have that opportunity, having forwarned the criminals. However, there are strong forces moving to arrest Netanyahu inside Israel too, so, whether Israel agrees the rest of the world has the right to arrest them, the rest of the world will decide themselves what happens on their dirt, and Israelis will decide what happens on theirs, and Netanyahu may finally end up held responsible for what he's done, or at least some of it.

Thanks!
