It was announced a few moments ago that the King passed away earlier today. This follows the announcement made yesterday that the 88 year old King, King Bhumibol Adulyade’s health was deteriorating.

In one of my previous post, Thailand, the Land of Smiles I wrote about the people of Thailand and how they adore their Royal family of which the King is by far the most beloved person of the Kingdom. They, from the youngest to the oldest, love their King, not only for what he had done for the country but especially for the poor.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej became King King Rama IX on 09 June 1946 at the age of 18 when his brother, Ananda Mahidol, King Rama VIII of Siam, only 20 years old was shot and killed. This incident is referred to as Thailand’s saddest secret.

It is believed that the whole country will shut down and go into mourning for a period of three months and that the preparation for the funeral will take at least a year.

It was with sadness that I heard about the Kings passing. I love the Thai people and my heart is bleeding for them!
