Very interesting to hear this future view of steemit @exyle. I can totally agree with this. steemit already is already far too "crowded" in its feed to make it possible to find the content you might want to see.
I would see steemit morphing into something like a **steemit-raw data source **but with users accessing it through many, many different niche-steemits on top for different subject areas, but not accessing it directly anymore.
For example I am involved in the homesteading community on steemit. It could be far more effective to have a homestead specific interface - let's call it homesteemers.com - that only shows posts tagged with say #homesteading, #prepping, #gardending etc.
My question now would be whether it would be better to do this as a niche-filter-site running on steem and steempower? Or would it better to take the separation one step further and just run a Homesteaders site on a SMT foundation?
I am trying to work through the pros and cons of each option.
I am guessing running with the steem based filter site has the big advantage of having known value in its steem 'currency'. Whereas with an SMT site the token has to find its own value in the market as I understand it.
Running with an SMT site would of course give far more flexibility - although I believe as it is on the steem blockchain the site would still be subject to the rules such as no editing after 7 days, no deletions etc etc.
I would appreciate your thoughts on the two options.
Many thanks
