Khalil Gibran
Khalil Gibran was a Lebanese-American poet, philosopher and painter.
His poems revolve around the idea that love, life and death should be the essence of human beings. His work is regarded as a link between the philosophical directions of Sufism, the Orient and Western philosophies.
He wrote most of his early works in Arabic, and from 1918 onwards he wrote mainly in English. His writings captivate above all by his poetic and linguistically painterly pictures.
A large number of his poems have been set to music, with al-Mahabbas's interpretations being particularly well known.
Gibran attached great importance to touching the hearts of his readers and listeners with his works.
