The video summarized my 2017 story. For the last part of that year, I was in a hiatus. I tried to keep a low digital footprint because I know there is something with November and December (of every year) that I should be wary of. I just don't like those months in general and maybe the universe do not align for me on those months.
During that break I spent most of my time (if not all) with my family... and it was priceless. But just when I thought I have conquered December, the fall happened...
I took it positively and here are 3 things I learned from it.
1. Complacency is the mother of all Fck ups!*
I must admit i dropped my guard down. I was too excited to show my cousins that adventure place and let them experience it for the first time. On my part, I know what I should be checking before doing any of those adventure activities, from rope safety, to methodology to gears, etc. But complacency and excitement have struck me to forget about these things. During my wall climb, the person to belay me was not wearing the proper equipment (ie. gloves). He wasn't even doing the proper procedures for belaying a climber. Again, I was complacent and he was complacent - excitement wins, accident happened.
2. Safety and security is everyone's business
When we go to these places we always get safety and security briefs from the management and staff but let's keep in mind whatever happens to us - is our own responsibility. Make sure that we personally do safety and security checks once, twice and as many as we can to be safe and secure.
3. Establish presence of mind at all times
At some point of my life, I've spent 6 years learning about the concept of stability under pressure. That fall have thought me an offspring of that concept - presence of mind. There will always be chaos, expect it to come and when it does, make sure your mind keeps it's stability to think and make those microsecond decisions - decisions that will define on whether your life will continue or not.
Happy New Year to all and I hope you enjoy watching me fall! 😂😂😂
My sister (who took the video) was too shocked and was not able to capture my landing. I could have shown that microsecond-train-of-thought on how to land and still get up with only a bruise on your elbow. Overall, It was a mixed of a Judo roll, chin tucked in, and a goalkeeper's collapse dive techniques.
I am very optimistic of my 2018. With those lessons learned kept on my pocket, I will climb that wall again and stay on top ... and even if i fall... I know I can survive! Hoorrah 2018!

How high was that? Hope you're okay! Nothing like welcoming the new year with a bout of luck.Happy new year!
i think about 45 feet, I free fall halfway .hahaha binitawan ng nag belay ang rope kasi mainit daw. I'm ok though thanks. happy New year :)
Hope you're better.
But what you said about complacency is true, in all aspects of life, it's really the mother of all f*ck ups!😅
And ramdam ko kaba ng sister mo.😅
I'm doing well now. My right elbow is healing and no major injuries :)
That's good to hear, you keep safe now. ☺
Gossshhh! I have phobia for heights, i cant go that high
face and manage your fear :)
yeah, thanks for inspiring
EHMAHHGAD! I'm glad you're still with us!
Feeling what you're saying about complacency for sure. It's so easy to slip into that moment, sometimes it takes a crash landing to snap us back up.
Hello 2018!
Whoah! Accidents really happened unexpectedly. Even how great we are on a certain activity, with complacency we might fall. Good thing your OK @precise.
thanks @davinsh i'm doing ok now.
Ive upvoted this awesome post! Hope you are better, up and about. Feel free to check me out at @mart101
Things may be painful at that time, but I believe everything has its purpose. The most important thing is that you've learned from it and will be stronger the second time around. Hope to see a lot more greater contents. please follow me @markaparre
ang pag sway sway ng arm actually is a safety pre-caution for any bad landing, para ma feel mo yung ground sa kamay before your body :)
thanks. hopefully hindi ako bitawan next time hahaha
Gravity is not to be blamed for people falling in love, ay na fall man jud diay literally bai ahahahaha!
Ahahaha
You again that..
hahaha ilang beses boss?
in the hope that it will be what you want in the new year
my gosh,. buti naman hahahahaha kaloka
Happy new Year!
I would want to fall from anywhere,, let alone from there!
Happy New Year!
Aha..now that's something that we can do together. The belayer doesn't need gloves..it's in the handling of the rope.
I got shoes!
the belayer needs it lola. he got rope burns kaya binitawan :(
Knowing that ha...dapat prepared sya. from what feet ka fall? 45 ft or that wall is 45 ft high?
Pa'no un di mga pusa pag nahuhulog ano?
around 45 ft yung wall and i fell halfway LOL
too complacent lola, and my fault also for not checking the belayer given that i know the proper safety procedure :( so lessons learned there
So climb again to check??? Shall i get some gloves?
let's go wall climbing when you're here!!!
Mauna si lola dreamy..sunod ako.
Do we need powder?
Very helpful...
Please vote me
Aray. Hehehe buti nman walang major major injury. :P
just a bruised elbow fortunately 😅
Hehe swerte. :D
Wow. Thank heavens you're fine and you didn't break any bones. Would've Would've definitely been another story.
But good things is, you learn something from the fall and likewise we all....
So the fall could as well be a blessing in disguise, for you to come teach us how to never be absent minded at any point in time...
I trust you're doing very fine now? Safe bro
thanks. presence of mind saved me! it's so simple yet easily neglected.
I definitely would have sued the guy who let go of the rope and dropped you. Like come on! You had ONE job!
I could too but i was forgiving and I realized I still should have checked everything since i know the safety procedures.
