Shoooeee! I have had a hectic time lately. Worked way too many hours this month, and have been putting some serious time into my blog. So when I checked my calendar at the beginning of the month and saw all the Public Holidays we have this weekend, I promptly put in two days of leave and got out almost a week off! And gurrrl, did I need it!
@morkrock and I packed our bags and drove the hour or so it takes to get to his family, who live out in the Cape Winelands (land of all the wine!). The roads were super busy and I had to drive because someone wanted to write a Steemit post. It was a little nerveracking, and like I said, I had had a LONNGG month, so I was super happy to see my mom and dad-in-law, who I am very close with.
We relaxed with a coffee and then all drove out to @morkrock's uncle and aunt who live on the most picturesque winefarm.
I love going out to the farm for some chill time. It's great as we are all kind of in the same mindset, we can deep and weird with no judgement, and I love it. It's just the most comfortable place, it's home!
Despite the cold weather (Winter is approaching really fast here), Mork's uncle poured us some fancy pink G&T's with cinnamon and blueberries and set to braaiing (barbecuing) - we South Africans take this pretty seriously!
We had an amazing night with loads of delicious food and crazy conversation, from the book of Enoch, to Nephilim, to Trump, Kanye, cooking, clothing, shopping, travelling and back to Genesis.
Then, after the braai we drove to the other aunty and uncle where we were sleeping and were greeted with coffee and more conversation. We got to bed pretty late, around 02h30, and slept sooo well!
We had a lovely brunch with Mork's parents and headed back to the city. We're now looking forward to three more days off, and I am just feeling totally renewed and refreshed. I can't wait to hit my Kindle and get at least one book in my brain.
Sometimes we just need a break, and it is SO important ensure that we are taking proper rests.
I'm pretty sure I was on my way to a burnout, and this week off is a saviour!
How do you relax? What do you like to do? Let me know in the comments!
I relax by upvoting everything that moves!!! :)
Glad you got a chance to break away. I just finished up a HUGE project myself, but now my "NEW" project is getting these awful people to finish paying me... Fun times are ahead!! :)
oh noes! I hope they paid you a deposit. get your money, gurrl!
(except for the gurrl part!!) haha
haha.. every one is mah gurrrl
or i can just be your DOGE
yeah, I like that, DOGE!
We really need to set out tome for rest. It is very important that our body gets rest. Some work 24/7 without resting. Why won't they breakdown? I hear several stories of people who just slump and die. Most of this things happen because we do not create enough time to rest our head.
I can't believe this is south Africa, you know, almost it's like a place etched out of heaven you know, do beautiful.
it is the most awe inspiringly beautiful country. you are right
Yeah especially here really, I love the scenery, you capture them with so much precision

You are welcome ♥
Such an awesome post. I can't wait to visit South Africa. The mountains look just like here in Utah. Geniet die dag!
it is an amazing place. Down here in the Western Cape there is so much on offer too. Amazing food, beautiful scenery, walking/hiking, surfing, shopping, wine tasting, museums...! So much!
Hey @princessmewmew. You are absolutely correct. You need to get away from the digital and electronic mindset and just get out and enjoy the natural world. BBQ is something that we take pride in here in California as well. You should check out my trip to the Los Angeles Arboretum on Saturday. I think you would enjoy all the natural beauty there. Have a blessed day.
I definitely will x
Oo those drinks look amazing!
they were!
I'm really glad you got some Personal Time. It really is important. I get mine on my motorcycle. I say it often, and always mean it. Every hour I spend on that motorcycle includes a 59 minute vacation.
What beautiful country. I love the vineyard temp and altitude range. It's like the Goldilocks weather.
Thanks for a great post. I really enjoyed it.
thank you very much! I love how you describe your riding time! a 59 minute holiday
It is very important to get a break and unwind
Looks is like a beautiful place to get away to
it is. It's my happy place :)
I can see why it looks so beautiful and refreshing
So happy for your relaxing small holiday, good for you. Every one needs to recharge. I personally like to go for walks during the day to relax. On weekends love to barbecue, especially in the forest. Like to go swimming and sunbathing:)) ti get totally relaxed.
thank you! You are right. Sometimes I need to remind myself to leave the house. It's such an easy thing, but sometimes one forgets all the amazing things that there are to do. Especially where I live!!
beautiful place , and i totally agree about having the nice break , <3
Sungguh pemandangan yang menakjubkan
I fall into this trap of over-working too often. It’s a daily journey of learning balance. I’m glad you took this break before burnout. And what a gorgeous place to do it! And the topics of conversation...I’d love to have listened in!

Nice. How do you find living in South Africa at the moment? There is so much misinformation flying around I am not sure what to think.
