I completely agree with your post and the other comments here. I want to add that, at root, Steemit is about the democratic production of content. Anything democratic is always going to be a two-edged blade - people want quality content and real information, but they want to be entertained and don't want anything complicated. Add on to that the whole bot phenomenon and we end up with our current predicament..

The bot phenomenon is way above my understanding. I have no idea how that stuff works. I do think that Steemit is still the best platform around but there is room for improvement.

I don't understand all the intricacies, but hate the idea that you can get votes by paying for it (that's basically how most of them work). It's just another case of the rich get richer..there are some other kinds of voting bots that you don't have to pay for. These are better because they can involve manual curation of posts, like steemfollower. Some say that bots are necessary for the Steemit ecosystem, I agree within the limit that it's not all automated. But there is definitely room for improvement as you say!
