I regularly have seaweed baths in my hometown of Sligo, in the West of Ireland. If you are lucky enough to get here and book with Voya or you can search for seaweed baths near you, here are my tips to make it a true pampering experience. Before you go - have a shower - exfoliate and shave & shampoo hair.
What you need . . .
Hair clip
Face mask
Hair Mask
Comb
Cotton buds
Face wipes
Meditation app on your phone
My Hero Serum or Kinvara Serum
If it is a nice day a big walk up Knocknarea http://gostrandhill.com/explore/hikes-walks/knocknarea-hike/
followed by a nice bite to eat in Shells Cafe http://www.shellscafe.com/will set you up to make sure you either wear or bring.
Wear baggy clothes and slip on shoes
Extra Jacket if it is a cold day - you want to wrap up warm and maybe take a wee walk on the beach afterward.
The staff at Voya are so friendly and talk you through how everything works. When you are in the room you simply lock the door behind you.
Get into the steam room and as your hair absorbs the steam add in some conditioner or your hair mask (they have both shampoo & conditioner, along with shower gel there too)
Get a sweat on - keep adding conditioner until your hair is covered and tie up with the hair tie. Turn the steam off.
Cover your face, neck, and decolletage in the face mask - rinse hands in the shower.
Carefully lower yourself into the seaweed bath.
You can play a meditation app on your phone or simply listen to the waves that are piped through the speakers.
I stay 20 mins in the bath then get out (carefully) and rinse the mask or conditioner out of my hair then get back into the bath again and squeeze the seaweed to release the gel and rub onto my skin.
If you like you can also book a massage or facial they have a number of treatments in the spa or simply just dry off and wrap up then head to the beach and take a walk.
Usually, I book a seaweed bath at the end of the day so that I can relax with a cup of sleepy tea at home and read a book
