Being an idealist or a perfectionist can be dangerous unless we insert some realism and realistic expectations into the perfect-ideal formulas we design and implement.
Some people have the highest and greatest goals imaginable in life and living. There are others who have no goals at all. There are many dreamers and climbers and people who are not satisfied with the "status quo" and who refuse to stay put. Others will not be moved unless someone moves them. The ultimate question however is who should we be as humans and people who matter – i.e., if we do matter in any way?
The following are some personal thoughts that may help someone like you or me move forward and well in the days ahead – whether those days be frustrating or not.
Philosophy, Perspective, Purpose and Hope Matter in Life
When individuals think they matter, have value and are of some importance to someone or others, they act accordingly. Of course, there are the egoists, egotists, narcissists and other self-centered beings who consider all that matters is them and no one else. That's the bad extreme at that end of the spectrum.
On the other hand, we discover others who consider themselves worthless, failures, discards, useless and of no value – not even a penny's worth of value in their own minds and hearts. Personal negative and demeaning misconceptions like these are not easy to overcome, nor are they quickly corrected – this is the opposite side of the human self-worth, self-importance spectrum.
Most people exist in between these two extremes of the panorama of life and living. Here we find many pragmatic individuals who truly believe they have value and import. These persons live a life that is balanced, realistic, optimistic and represents a healthy equilibrium. True self-worth and natural, personal humility are good virtues.
So, then how can we accomplish this balanced life-perspective that carries us through the roller coaster ride of life or the mountains and the valleys? How do we deal with the joys and sorrows, the peaks and the lowlands in a way which helps us to survive and carry on?
How do We Get Life Perspectives, Philosophies, Purposes, Hopes to Carry Us Through Life?
The question really is this: How do we become inspired or get inspired and establish lasting, enduring and durable life foundations? In some cases, it is easy to identify the main source as parents or a parent or philosophy or religion or both which help solidify a person's positive and healthy character and personality. Some parents amaze us by their total, complete and quality dedication to the young person as a child whom they wonderfully infuse with proper education, optimism, wisdom, discernment and common sense.
Yet, there are people who succeed in the absence of good parents or a parent. or even a worthy and good relative who sometimes ably fills the parent gap. Yes, some individuals survive, succeed and prosper in ways that exceed anyone's wildest dreams or expectations.
Optimism and true, solid character and personhood, I believe, are important life values that can carry anyone forward in positive and strong ways. Ultimately, the acquisition of knowledge and management of an entire life depends deeply on each individual's efforts. Osmosis is a wonderful life process where we see water passing back and forth across membranes without any effort or energy.
On the other hand, most of life is not that easy and requires active, energized transport which is characterized by solid thinking, planning and diligent work.
In some places in the world, anything is possible given the dream, the dreamer and the quality of effort expended. However, even in the most dire and most bleak circumstances, hope, optimism, strength, courage, pragmatism and faith can carry a person to another shore and safe haven where the seeds of goodness and a new birth and new life can flourish.
I believe that, do you?
