Work on things you're really proud of

A few years ago I had a YouTube channel focused on promoting music from artists that were not as known as others. I had that channel for around 3 years until it was closed for some copyright complaints.

While I was making enough money from that channel to pay for all the things I needed in high school, instead of just asking my parents for help, I wasn't proud of my work. I wasn't proud of the content I was creating. I was willing to work, but not willing to show my work to others.

Working on projects that you really like is vital for your company, or even for yourself, as a person. One of the reasons I wasn't really successful with YouTube was because I didn't really like what I was doing. I liked the money I was receiving, but nothing more.

I was even embarrassed to show my work to my mother, even tho she kept asking to see what I was doing. She only knew I did something online and I was making money out of it, but whenever people asked her what I was doing, she couldn't really say, because she never saw it.

I believe that's the wrong way of doing things. If you're doing something and you're ashamed to even show it to your mother, that's a problem that needs to be solved. If you hate your work that much, you should just quit and never look back.

If you look closely on the internet, the most successful people are the ones that love their work. The main reason for this is that if they like what they do so much, they will invest more time into it and they will be willing to work more in order to create more high quality content.

But when you hate what you do, you do your best to finish things as fast as possible in order to start doing something else, or just to be able to relax.

That's completely wrong, and that's a situation I honestly believe you should avoid. If you are working on something similar right now, please stop, and find something else to do. You don't have to quit right away, but you should start learning how to do new things.

You need to find something that really interests you, something that will get you up in the morning before even the alarm starts waking you up, because you're that excited. For me, right now, that's writing. I love writing on Steemit more than anything, because I not only get to create articles, but I get to talk to people and create all kind of relationships.

Because of that I don't feel tired after writing something and I don't feel like I would rather do something different. This morning I woke up around 9 AM, because I went to sleep pretty late, I wrote a post on Medium, then ate something, and now, at almost 11 in the morning I'm writing this.

I didn't start right away because I want to make sure I don't feel hungry or thirsty or tired when writing something on this website, because I want to be able to spend as much time as possible creating content. I don't want to move from my chair until my fingers hurt from so much writing, and until I'm so tired I can't form a sentence any more.

This is the kind of job you should get, or the kind of work you should choose, something that gets you so interested you're willing to do it for hours and hours without taking a break. That's not only good for you and your happiness, but that's the fastest way to get successful.

While I may not get rich and while I may not become the best on this website, I'm pretty sure I'll get in a better position than most people who just write for money or just because they have nothing else to do. The only reason is that I really enjoy what I do and I would do it all day long.

That's what you need in your life, and that's what I advice you to search for - a job that you like, a job that you love, a job that gets you excited. You're gonna spend half of your life working, so why not find something fun that you like, instead of spending so much time feeling miserable, doing something you hate?

Sort:

Hell yeah, gotta do what you love. I hate going to my 6-2 every day, but it pays the bills, and leaves me drained of what I WANT to do.

Recurring nightmare...

That's why sometimes I'm glad I don't have a normal job and I work online, it gives me more freedom.

But I know what you're talking about, I experienced that in school. I had to work so much and learn so many things I hated, when I got home I had almost no energy left and I wasn't really able to work on all the things I want.

That's why I think steemit is a great way you could earn money while doing something fun, that does not require a lot of energy. It could be the thing that will allow a lot of people to follow their dreams.

voted up inspiring, however doing what you love is only good if success can be had doing it or if you don't care if you make any money and you have another way of making money

Well, it really depends.

Sometimes, if you love what you do, that's enough to make money out of it. You just need to do some research and find ways of doing that.

There's almost always a way to make money doing what you love, you just need to spend some time finding or creating one.
