One of the most startlingly interesting differences between the rich and poor is the kind of world they see. You hear poor people say things like, "Do you think money grows on tree?" or "There's not enough money". To them, the world is full of financial scarcity, not enough money. But even though the rich do live on the same planet as the poor do,they see a different kind of world. They see a world of too much money. You'll always find then say things like,"Don't worry about money. There's plenty of money out there for us to take possession of", or "All I need do to get rich is to take the right step".
There only are two kinds of money problems in the world today, and it is your choice as to what kind of money problem you'd tackle. A lot of people think that if they only have lots of money, there no longer will be problems in their lives. Beautifully untrue! Being rich is not the end of all your money problems, but the beginning of s new kind of problem. So you do have to chowaa between the problem of "not enough money" and that of "too much money".
See, money is just an idea, not something real. Since it is so, of your idea is that there is not enough money, then that's the reality you'll experience. When I was younger, we moved from where we are living into this very exotic neighborhood,an estate actually. Living there for the whole year we spent permanently engraved into my memories some images, images of beautiful cars and houses, beautiful ladies and exotic lifestyle. It was a different world from where I came from.I could, in my mind, juxtapose between the two worlds of money. And believe me, I knew, from thence, what kind of life I would live, the world I would live in.
Too many folks who suddenly become rich - by things like inheritance, winning the lottery - suddenly become poor again because psychologically, all they ever knew was a world of not enough money. So they lose all their newfound wealth because it doesn't match up with the kind of world they knew; a world of not enough money. The reality of money inside a man is the reality of money outside him. No one can change his outside reality until he first change his inside reality about money.
The average poor person out there believes in a world full of scarcity and this us why he rigorously pursues security and competes with others for things. His default mode is scarcity and that's why he tries to compete for a job,a girl or just anything at all. Then, if he finally gets it, he goes full mode with securing the little he has. See that? He is a victim if his mentality. Since he doesn't believe in a world if abundance, he will fight, kill and compete fie crumbs, and then build a fortress to protect and secure that crumb of bread.
Those with an abundance mentality don't do that. They know that if they would only be more creative and cooperative, they will have abundance of whatever they need. This is why the rich can take risks with their money. They know that even if they lose it,there's too much of it out there and so they can get some more. Where the poor guy is crying about losing money, the rich is asking, "what went wrong"? and "How can I avoid this scenario next time". While the poor one is dominated and driven by the fear of not wanting to lose money, the rich guy goes into investing and business with the prospect of making money. The difference is like the difference between a football team that park buses in front of their goal and a fast, creative and attacking team. Parking the bus may win you games, but never trophies.
In one of his books, Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad fame quoted his Rich dad saying, "The more a person seeks security the more scarcity they will have in their life. Security and scarcity go hand in hand. That is why people who seek job security or guarantees are often the people with less abundance in their life. One of the reasons the 90/10 rule of money holds true is because most people spend their lives seeking more security instead of seeking more financial skills. The more financial skills you have the more abundance you will have in your life".
Your personal challenge is to remind yourself repeatedly of the two kind of worlds there are and to choose which kind of world you'd live in from now on.
