It's a common misconception of leftist ideals, to shut people down. I did a Political test and found out that I'm anarcho-socialist. I believe in community and people. My belief though, is that to achieve a healthy balanced community, you need to listen to that community and adjust behaviours accordingly. A large group of people is basically a diverse set of beliefs, genders and culture, all with different needs. I try to be tolerant and respectful. I've always said shutting people down is more of a behaviour thing than anything. Everyone can debate on the internet without learning any communication skills. People with better manners though, like me, tend to try and respect others from all walks.
You are right, men and women ARE different but want to achieve the same goals in life, which makes us in mind, not that very different from one another at all. Which is where I think all this bullshit comes from :)
