A cup of coffee is one of those gifts that never gets old. Each well made cup of coffee is a delight, one that you can have daily. It must be made by a good barista, so no Starbucks or Costa or whatever. Specialty coffee only, it should be from a single source: Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka. And always, no matter what, a flat white. I'd make an exception if you already had enough caffeine and get a cortado.
Enjoy it slowly. Once place in front of you, the milk steam forming a nice pattern, just taste a little. It will be milky but the taste of coffee should come through. Then stir and enjoy. Again, slowly.
I try to remember how lucky I am to have good coffee shops close by. To be grateful that I was woke to the beauty of this drink - just a few years back I almost never drank coffee!
Each cup a new chance to understand coffee better. Each sip is rediscovery as the cup evolves with the temperature.
What goes well with coffee?
Some say a cigarette.
I say a good book, a nice view, a great conversation. You know it was good if the coffee will be cold at last sip. And still tastes great!
Try as many types of coffee as you can and appreciated the nuances. It's really about evolving your perception. Perfectly brewed, perfectly poured, delicious.
If you never had a good cup of coffee, I urge you to find a local coffee shop and try on. The first cups might seem too bitter. NEVER. NEVER add sugar. That's just heresy.
Feel free to talk with the barista about the coffee, most are friendly and eager to talk about this as this is rarely just a job. It can't be if you want to be really good at it. It's passion.
BONUS:
Why Flat White?
In my opinion is the best of both worlds: coffee and milk. An espresso alone is too bitter and often goes too fast. The Italian way, yes, but it does not lend itself so much to enjoying for me. A cappuccino is too weak, though the steamed milk is smooth and nice but it doesn't have the punch. A latte is all milk and often too big.
A flat white is 2 espresso shots and steamed milk on top. A combination that is perfect as it is enjoyable.
For a more detailed explanation this is a good one
I am really agree with you and whatever words you used for coffee, in my opinion only an coffee lover can understand that and i know whenever i drink coffee it's aroma really spread all over and it give great essence and i personally like the hot coffee. I prefer to drink coffee while working because in my case it's really increase my observation towards my work. Thanks for sharing and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
I love the fact that you give so much attention to detail when it comes to beer, coffee etc. The subject becomes very interesting by the way you describe it.
Spot on bro! :)
Sugar spoils the whole experience of tasting the original essence. I do add sugar though but in a negligible amount. It's like a habit from beginning. Have reduced a lot now and hopefully stop adding completely someday.
Cheers bro!
Thank you! Usually the deeper you get into something, themore the "finer" points start to matter. I'm sure you are the same with motocycles: I see them all as the same more or less, but for you each has pros cons and specific thing to enjoy in various settings.
Will take you to a good coffee wherever SF3 will be :D
NO SUGAR!
Ohh yeah! Why didn't I realize before that the same thing applies to everything. Haha :P
Sure man! That would be awesome. Even @varunpinto will be eager to tag along, if he hears the word coffee. :P
what.. woah.. wait.. did someone say coffee?? 😍
I hate coffee: hate the taste, hate the addiction some people have because of it, and hate the arrhythmias it gives me :P ( I'm such a rebel :D )
dude, we like the same stuff all the time! bffs forever?!?!
Do rebels have bffs ? :P
I am into espresso. Oh well, I am Italian, so that's the perfect stereotype and I love a dense coffee full of aroma.
You know, the small things in life that I appreciate. Thanks for the lovely post ^^
No hay como levantarse y tomar una buena taza de cafe
Cofee yang enak maizing salam persahabat,
I am not much of a coffee drinker but I was on vacation last week and there was a nespresso machine in my room. That shit is awesome, I looked into buying a machine when I got back. I am not sure I want another appliance in my kitchen though. I also had my first French press coffee, that shit is great. Given all that I prefer a nice scoop of Explosion mixed with chocolate Super Greens in the morning. That's the best.
A cup of a good coffee, the best to start the day. Its pure aroma envelops you. I love coffee especially with little milk and no sugar, to take it sip by sip without haste.
The coffee accepts almost, any companion.
Thanks for sharing.
I'm a sugar fan myself.... raw sugar that is.
A nice cappacino all day long for me, despite being lactose intolerant :P
Great article. In order to really appreciate the beans, one may argue that the Americano's a great way to truly enjoy the taste of the beans and not too harsh due to the infusion of the Espresso with water. What are your preferred brewing methods. In South Africa, with its relative proximity towards Ethiopia, , Kenya and the DRC, some baristas in niche coffee shops use the traditional method of a clay cafetiere.
