Love the look and you can't beat the price! My favorite bookshelf ever was a simple solid wood design my daddy made when I was little. They last forever and are so much sturdier and better than the cheap particle board ones you get at the store. To avoid splinters and snags you could run some sandpaper over it and spray it with a clear coat.
