"THE PUMP" : Pre-Workout Mix

in #life7 years ago

My personal conncoction, this pre-workout mix contains some powerful pump stuff. Take this about 15 minutes before you workout, and you'll walk out of the gym feeling like a true warrior.

The Mix

  • 1.5 g Beta Alanine
  • 5 g L-Citrulline DL-Malate 2:1
  • 5 g Creatine
  • 200 mg Caffeine (optional)

Each Ingredient's Purpose

Beta Alanine - A non-essential beta amino acid, this stuff is most likely in your typical shelf bought pre-workout mix. Beta-Alanine has proven itself as being capable of consistently raising muscle carnosine levels, thereby reducing fatigue, and increasing your maximum energy output. Beta Alanine should be cycled off and on, and or paired with Taurine, another amino acid that assists in carnosine levels. Because both aminos compete for uptake, it is important to take them at the same time if you are going to take them together. Cycling off of Beta-Alanine every 4-9 weeks is common, as the muscle carnosine levels are typically at their maximum limit, as well as to rebalance your body from the intake of Beta-Alanine if you are not also supplementing with Taurine. The tingling sensation (Paresthesia) is commonly felt if you ingest too much Beta-Alanine and may be unsettling, but it is harmless. Basically this amino is a tank, and I would seriously do some more research into this powerhouse if you yearn for the gains.

L-Citrulline DL-Malate 2:1 - An α-amino acid compound, L-citrulline malate is an awesome addition to this mix. In short L-citrulline assists in the synthesis of Nitric Oxide (NO), improving blood flow and thereby allowing for you to hold off fatigue, and continue to achieve greatness. Malate assists in aerobically produced ATP (cell energy) giving you a nice push to further continue your grind. The optimal amount to consume is 8 grams, but some people have seen effectiveness at around 3 grams. Personally I find 5 grams git's er done just fine. I consider this compound a must-have in any pre-workout mix.

Creatine - helps in the production of ATP(energy) and is effective at doing so Make sure you drink plenty of water with your creatine intake, and 2 months on, 1 month off is a very common approach to intake with creatine. This a probably the most well known product in this mix, and I would advise you look into it if you are more interested.

Caffeine - A stimulant first and foremost, this guy is tried and true for getting the day started. I only take this when I'm especially tired and need that extra boost. I take the pill form to avoid coffee as well as save money(caffeine pills are cheap).

I hope you achieve true greatness with this mix. This mix is very flexible and ever-changing, and the amounts of each supplement are entirely up to you and what works for you. Make sure you do your own diligence and understand the stuff you put into your own body. I am not responsible for what my fellow Steemians do.

Happy Gains and Happy New Year!!
