I'm so glad that my first posts back on the blockchain are positive ones. Those of you who've known me since my personal Dark Ages in Appalachia know that those times really were dark... but this is a new day. And it is quite a good day at that.

Today, Michel and I took delivery on construction materials to put a roof on our barn. This barn is intended to house the animals we have in sanctuary here so this is part of the nonprofit work I'm doing in Costa Rica.

It's an old structure, very solid in construction, but the tropical rains here will rot it to the ground if we don't get a good roof on it soon. Well... work starts tomorrow! Our contractor will be here at 7 a.m.

Here is a look at why we need this work done so desperately.

This is the interior. You can probably see why we want to save this old barn.

We'll add more fencing while we're at it. We should get at least two more turnout areas with the amount of fencing we received. There are two more rolls of welded steel mesh fencing besides these, for a total of five.

@michelios has really turned into a jungle man, out here working like a Tico. 😂

With any luck I'll be able to get more photos and videos tomorrow once the contractor arrives and starts work. Stay tuned!

That is just incredibly cool. I'm so jealous of the wild birdies that you get to look at every day. I have a pro birder friend who has a place in Panama and spends at least a week in Costa Rica every winter doing her birder things. My brother bought a place in Costa Rica (he retired better than me). After his first trip he called to ask about a camera, and my Nikon specifically. His words "If you aren't a birder when you go to Costa Rica you will be when you leave."

Glad you are back.

Where in Costa Rica is your brother? He's kinda right about the birder in Costa Rica thing. There are just sooooo many of them, and they're unbelievably beautiful.
