There are a lot of studies saying that cats have numerous psychological and mental benefits which are good to us. Having a fluffy, snuggly, loving, calming, and friendly cat may prevent us from different kind of health risks.
Here are some of the benefits we may get if we are owning a pet cat:
1. Improve your mood.
According to scientists, if you spend 15 to 30 minutes per day cuddling, hugging, or playing with your cat will help you boost your mood. How does it work? It has to do with serotonin and cortisol.
Serotonin acts as a neurotransmitter, a type of chemical that helps relay signals from one area of the brain to another.
Cortisol is a hormone involved in the regulation of metabolism in the cells and helps us regulate stress within the body.
2. Healthier heart.
Owning a cat can actually lower the risk of various heart diseases such as stroke. One study found cat owners were 30 percent less likely to die of a heart attack or stroke than those who don't own cats maybe because cat owners are more relaxed and have lower stress in general.
3. Better Sleep
A lot of studies and surveys in UK say that people prefer to sleep with their cats than with human bed companion. They are the best snugglers even with different positions as long as they are comfortable in their sleeping.
4. Fewer Allergies.
A study shows that the more exposured you are in early life appears to protect against not only pet allergy but also other types of common allergies. "Children raised in a house with two or more dogs or cats during the first year of life may be less likely to develop allergic diseases as compared with children raised without pets, according to a study in the August 28 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. The study was supported by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)."
