I've always loved creating things from other people's trash.
Not necessarily trash such as milk jugs and packing peanuts, although that has happened - But more like items that people are planning to take to the Goodwill or broken pieces that people are trying to offload in their yard sales for $1. Growing up, my dad and granddad were always into thrifting/bargain hunting/picking, so naturally, I became rather fond of it all and begin doing it on my own as a sort of hobby.
One weekend, during a typical yard sale-ing adventure - I stumbled across these two super retro suitcases, and for $1.50 a piece, I couldn't just leave them there! So I did the next best thing, brought them home and started searching for something to use as legs. As much as I hate Facebook, I must say, I was happy to find a free table and chair set that were perfect leg donors....that sounds a bit morbid.
After gathering supplies, I went to work!
I started by ripping out the interior as it smelled of moth balls and old lady perfume...not a good combo.
I then cut a piece of plywood to sit inside of the suitcase and act as a base for the legs, much like I did in part 2 of this series. I then cleaned up the inside and used some Modge Podge to glue in strips of an old Charles Dicken's book. Afterwards, I painted the legs a matte white and distressed them a bit to give them that shabby chic look. After all of this "work" I listed it for sale!
You wanna hear the juicy stats?
Amount invested: ~$9 total
Amount sold for: $90 for the pair
BOOM!
Think this sort of thing is difficult? Think again!
OMG.... You are kidding me right??? This is awesome... Nice one really nice...
Nope, no kidding here! Thanks, @milimakeover.
Always welcome 😍😘😍
totally fucking cool.
Um...duh.
I like it, it's a table but you can open it and store stuff too
Exactly! Thanks, @elsteemo1!
Great Work, the Interior of the Suitcases Sound interesting.
Thanks! They were pretty cool, I regret not getting a pic of the interior.
My mom has always been into this kind of thing, and just like you did, she made the value of her project sometimes worth 10x more than what she bought them for. Your suitcase tables are absolutely amazing, so glad you shared them with us.
If really does begon to turn into an addiction. Lol
Thanks, @taylorann!
I just had to start following to see what other things you would post. Its just too cool!
Such a lovely idea... I hope with all the upcycling you are not turning into a hoarder, though... as long as you still can open the front door all is fine hehe.
Oh definitely not - I don't have enough space to be a hoarder! Lol
I love those tables!
Thanks, @lifes-a-donut!
