Meetings
"Meetings are an addictive, highly self-indulgent activity that corporations and other organizations habitually engage in only because they cannot actually masturbate." – Dave Barry, Pulitzer prize-winning American humorist
I have a friend who works a lot. He loves his work, which is always important but especially if you work in Science. This is one of the most competitive areas to work in and you have to be productive.
Yesterday he worked a lot so that today he could spend most of the day writing a paper. The only expected exception was a quick meeting. Before he even get to the office he was told there was a new meeting/interview (one of those they once told him he was never going to attend).
Expectations:
Early morning: Write
Midmorning: Quick meeting
Late morning: Write
Lunch break
All the afternoon: Write
Reality:
All morning: New meeting/interviews
Lunch break
All the afternoon: Re-scheduled meeting and continuation of the interviews.
