Coal mining

in #life8 years ago

I have spent exactly 30 years of my life working in underground coal mines here in the U.K. I thought I would share a few photos of my old work mates. You will soon get the idea it was a dark, dusty environment to work in. It was also very hot. All the deep mines are now shut and our only lasting links continue on Facebook. It's not changed much in the friendly banter that went on underground every day. The photos will tell their own story of friends and hard graft. What great times we had.

Hope you like them. If you fancy a go at mining then our National Mining Museum is well worth a visit.

I can't even imagine how incredibly hard that work must have been. I can't even go into a basement (or any enclosed space) without being totally claustrophobic!

I went to the National Coal Mining museum just a couple of days ago. It was a fascinating and rare experience. I totally reccommend it! I was just looking to see if anyone else had written anything about it on Steemit yet and here you are! Thanks for sharing :)
