Thank you for this. I too live on a border island - Symi - and the impact the refugee crisis has had on the local economy is marked, even though we don't have a designated 'camp' on the island. We soon learned how shallow today's tourists are - more interested in cheap beer in the sun than actually travelling and experiencing the world, good and bad. Why are the Greeks being punished for their humanity in a crisis that is not of their making?
